WORKSHOP “SONIFICATION OF GESTURE WITH MAX8″ with Julien Bayle Scopitone 2019 #scopitone2019
This workshop proposes to explore “sonification”, which is the transformation of body movement into sounds, whether it is to capture muscular contractions with the help of sensors, or to track its position in space. The participants in this experiment thus feed their computer with data captured live.
They also explore sound synthesis techniques, ranging from the creation of granular sequencers to more classical syntheses (AM, FM), before building their own patch to interpret the data and restore them as sounds.
This experience probes the notion of the limit between the real and the abstract, between sound and gesture; it is a work at the border of the scientific and artistic domains, which echoes the Julien Bayle STRUCTURE.LIVE project performing Ilaria Vergani Bassi.
